My research theme involves respiratory biology and
medicine especially the domain of dynamicity in health and disease states in
physiology and how different biomarkers fluctuate over time while transitioning
from one state to the other.
I am fascinated by patterns in physiology and recognizing these patterns in the context of health/disease aided by mathematical and computational approaches using non-invasive approaches like electronic Nose and breath analyses, is my ultimate goal.
My work involves application of Systems Biology approaches to respiratory medicine to look for disease/health patterns for prediction of outcomes. This forms the basis of modern P4 medicine (Predictive, Preventive, Personalized and Participatory)
I completed my PhD in Biotechnology and molecular
medicine from India. Thereafter I received the prestigious ERS-RESPIRE2 – Marie
Curie postdoctoral fellowship award and I started working at the Academic
Medical Centre from the University of Amsterdam and also worked in close
collaboration with University Children’s Hospital in Basel, Switzerland.
After successfully completing my postdoctoral
fellowship, I received the Swiss Lung Association grant (Lungenliga, Schweiz)
and is presently engaged in a project involving Systems Medicine approaches in
Lung diseases with emphasis on fluctuation dynamics of biomarker time series. I
am currently affiliated to
1) University Children’s Hospital Basel, Switzerland and
2) Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
